FireBack Records Showcase NYC

This Friday 4/10 the first NYC FireBack Records showcase show and it will be held at the legendary Arlene's Grocery in the lower east side.  This event features some of the FireBack roster including your's truly, Sinaloha & Melt Like Clouds.  This is also an early show, which is awesome.  The event starts at 7 and will be completely over at 10pm.

Arlene's Grocery is probably our favorite city spot to play in. It's situated just off the corner of Orchard & Stanton in the heart of so much lower eastside nightlife.  This place is known for its live music and always packs out with drinks going to the wee hours of the morning.  People come for just the bar scene as well as the live music. You can come in for free and socialize with your buddies to some quality rock n roll or pay a small cover and rock out to live band through another door.  Arlene's is also well known for its live band karaoke. Highly recommend checking this out. Sign up pick out a song front a live band that's totally into the music. It's not your walking dead I hate my life karaoke band. You hear everything from Danzig to Weezer to Iron Maiden to Boston.

If you're free come out for some goodtimes Friday! We'll be playing a bunch of new tunes. Let us know what you think!

Blackey On Vocal Rest

If you aren't aware we're in the middle of recording our brand new ep, which at this point will have 6 tracks. If you dig the rock stylings of Danzig, Queens of the Stoneage, Clutch, Distillers & Social Distortion then this ep is for you.  From out of the gate with this recording we had issues.  Our initial recording schedule included having drums tracked before Christmas, but Beatz got struck down hard with the flu, which postponed everything two weeks.  After that though bass & guitars went down smoothly, but took more sessions than we initially planned on, more sessions in a good way though.  The additional recording had nothing to do with poor performance if anything it was the total opposite.  There were so many awesome ideas being thrown out there for each song that it all had to be tracked. With our previous recordings it was generally one day for rhythm guitars and another for leads & melodies. This time around it was 7 hour sessions based around a song and half for guitar leads & melodies.

After guitars it was Blackey's turn to take the stand. Blackey had some reservations & concerns regarding her voice this time around. Something wasn't right. Her breathing was off & the higher notes weren't coming as naturally as usual. Blackey gave it a whirl and quickly realized that she had to seek medical opinion & professional vocal insight. After having throat specialists check her out she learned that her vocal chords were not working together correctly & one was overcompensating for the other, which was causing neck strain which caused her to give out.

On the positive side her condition is completely treatable & requires zero surgery. All she has to do is take some medication & rest her voice as much as possible. You can think of it as an athlete getting a bad sprain. The doctor said for optimal performance to not record for 6-8 weeks which puts her back in the booth around mid May. In the meantime all of the music will be edited and set up for Blackey to throw down & deliver the goods. Originally we were gunning for a pre release in March for those that pledged but it looks like mid June will be the time frame.  In the meantime if you pledge at www.PledgeMusic.com/MidnightMob we will be offering the songs as an instrumental version in April. This will be pretty cool, not only will these versions be only available to those that pledge, but you will really get to hear all of the musical nuances scattered throughout these new tracks.

Any questions feel free to hit us up & in the meantime checkout www.PledgeMusic.com You'll probably find some of your favorite bands on there. Peace!

Midnight Mob + PledgeMusic = MusicUnites.org

In January we embarked into the unknown. We teamed up with PledgeMusic in order to raise funds and work closely with fans on the making of our new ep.  This was our first time doing anything like this and was truly a sink or swim situation.  Probably the most heady experience we ever had, almost more awkward than playing a show for a bunch of people who do not acknowledge even once that you're playing a show. Yes it's happened & more than once.  Gotta love clubs that only like cover bands. Ironically they give you biggest guarantees. Back to what I was talking about. Before we launched this campaign we were talking about incorporating a charity into the mix. We all agreed to donate portion of the money raised if we make our goal.

There was a big debate of who should we donate to? What is the cause that we would like to give back to? Initially we bounced around various charities that support the troops because many of us have family members involved, but then the more we talked about it with others we realized it doesn't really connect with us as much it does with others. Something didn't feel quite right. We took a step back and it was clear we have to do something affiliated music. Music is something we all connect to more intimately, passionately & emotionally than anything else. We all owe music a thank you because it has steered us individually towards a clear positive light filled with the best lasagna rather than waste away in a puddle on the saddest block in the greyest part of town.

Culture really underestimates & undervalues the power of music. It has saved so many lives from depression, addiction, indecision and suicide.  Blackey's life went from troubled youth of drugs & alcohol depencies to sober, respected musician, role model and focused entreprenuer. Getting involved with music opens people up to so many other creative outlets such as art, photography, writing, clothing design, web design and it's endless really. Once your brain clicks in the creative realm the world is your giant canvas to etch your personality into.

For these reasons we had to give back to music.  After researching a bunch of charities we settled on MusicUnites.org. This organization focuses getting music into the reach of youth that in most situations may not be able to experience the joy of an instrument or a bond with another fellow musician.  If you would like to give to this charity you can do so through www.PledgeMusic.com/MidnightMob. We will be donating 15% of your pledge to this charity. Your minimal pledge of $5 will also give you a download of our new ep scheduled to be released this summer.  If you would like to just donate to the charity you can visit www.MusicUnites.org.

Stay tuned for new tunes, tour dates and as always Peace, Love, Swag N Roll...
