Blackey On Vocal Rest

If you aren't aware we're in the middle of recording our brand new ep, which at this point will have 6 tracks. If you dig the rock stylings of Danzig, Queens of the Stoneage, Clutch, Distillers & Social Distortion then this ep is for you.  From out of the gate with this recording we had issues.  Our initial recording schedule included having drums tracked before Christmas, but Beatz got struck down hard with the flu, which postponed everything two weeks.  After that though bass & guitars went down smoothly, but took more sessions than we initially planned on, more sessions in a good way though.  The additional recording had nothing to do with poor performance if anything it was the total opposite.  There were so many awesome ideas being thrown out there for each song that it all had to be tracked. With our previous recordings it was generally one day for rhythm guitars and another for leads & melodies. This time around it was 7 hour sessions based around a song and half for guitar leads & melodies.

After guitars it was Blackey's turn to take the stand. Blackey had some reservations & concerns regarding her voice this time around. Something wasn't right. Her breathing was off & the higher notes weren't coming as naturally as usual. Blackey gave it a whirl and quickly realized that she had to seek medical opinion & professional vocal insight. After having throat specialists check her out she learned that her vocal chords were not working together correctly & one was overcompensating for the other, which was causing neck strain which caused her to give out.

On the positive side her condition is completely treatable & requires zero surgery. All she has to do is take some medication & rest her voice as much as possible. You can think of it as an athlete getting a bad sprain. The doctor said for optimal performance to not record for 6-8 weeks which puts her back in the booth around mid May. In the meantime all of the music will be edited and set up for Blackey to throw down & deliver the goods. Originally we were gunning for a pre release in March for those that pledged but it looks like mid June will be the time frame.  In the meantime if you pledge at www.PledgeMusic.com/MidnightMob we will be offering the songs as an instrumental version in April. This will be pretty cool, not only will these versions be only available to those that pledge, but you will really get to hear all of the musical nuances scattered throughout these new tracks.

Any questions feel free to hit us up & in the meantime checkout www.PledgeMusic.com You'll probably find some of your favorite bands on there. Peace!
